World Money Launches in 150+ Countries With Stablecoin and Financial Features

World Money

World, the identity-focused crypto project developed by Tools for Humanity and co-founded by Sam Altman and Alex Blania, has begun rolling out World Money, a self-custodial financial application in more than 150 countries.

The new app brings stablecoin balances, digital-asset transfers, trading, rewards and other financial services into one platform. However, World says features and eligibility vary by country, meaning users in different markets may not have access to the same services.

The launch represents a further expansion of World’s effort to combine digital identity with cryptocurrency and financial services.

World Money Combines Payments and Digital Assets

World Money is designed to bring several financial functions into a single self-custodial wallet.

According to World, users can hold balances in stablecoins across eight currencies, send and receive supported digital assets across borders and track their portfolios and transactions.

The app also includes an Earn feature that allows eligible assets, including WLD and selected stablecoins and cryptocurrencies, to be deposited into programmes powered by Morpho. World says the rewards are variable and that the programmes involve risks, including smart-contract and market risks.

Stripe Adds a New Funding Option

A major part of the launch is World’s expanded partnership with Stripe.

World says the new funding flow initially launches in the United States and allows eligible users to use Apple Pay to convert funds into stablecoins within World Money. The company says these stablecoins typically arrive in the user’s wallet within minutes.

The integration is designed to reduce the number of steps involved in moving money from traditional payment infrastructure into a self-custodial crypto wallet.

However, the Stripe funding feature should not be interpreted as a global service. World specifically describes the new flow as beginning in the U.S., while other features depend on local availability.

World ID Provides Proof-of-Human Verification

World Money is also connected to World ID, World’s identity and proof-of-human system.

Users who verify that they are unique humans through an Orb can receive access to certain benefits, including boosted rewards on eligible Earn programmes. World presents the verification system as a way to help distinguish human users from increasingly sophisticated AI-generated or automated accounts.

However, World ID should be described as World’s own proof-of-human system, rather than an independently established universal trust mechanism.

World has also separated its identity and financial functions into two dedicated applications. The World ID App focuses on identity verification and credentials, while World Money handles wallet and financial features.

World Money Is Not a Bank

Despite offering several features associated with financial applications, World Money is not a bank.

World states that digital assets and stablecoins held through the service are not bank deposits and are not insured by the FDIC, deposit-guarantee schemes or other government agencies.

The company also warns that Earn and investment programmes involve risk, while reward rates and yields can change.

This distinction is important because World Money combines payments, asset management and investment-related features without operating as a conventional bank.

World Expands Its Financial Ecosystem

The World Money launch builds on World’s previous expansion into financial and communication features.

World began adding crypto payments and chat to its ecosystem in 2025. Circle subsequently introduced native USDC to World, while the platform expanded its use of Mini Apps and other financial services.

World Money now brings many of these capabilities into a dedicated financial application while keeping identity functions in the separate World ID App.

The company says existing World App and World ID App users can carry their verification and credentials into World Money without creating a completely separate identity.

Availability Varies by Country

Although World Money is beginning its rollout in 150+ countries, that does not mean every service is available everywhere.

World says availability depends on factors including regional regulations and development resources. Features such as Earn, virtual accounts, funding methods and specific digital assets can therefore differ between countries.

This is particularly relevant for financial services because regulatory requirements can affect which products are offered in individual markets.
